Upon discovering that we had a common student in Chemistry and Art, the Chem teacher and myself teamed up for a Collaborative Unit. This student featured, created her own dyes, that would change when heated and created an interactive artwork where the viewer would use hair dryers to change the colors and images of the piece.

 

 

In this piece, another of my students worked with chemicals to create a crystallization process. She then put a clay sculpture she’d created of a Chinese migrant worker in the liquid and created a video of the time based piece.
